Today, the President of the European Parliament delivered the Report on the State of the EU in the plenary session of the European Parliament, in which she outlined the EC's plans for the next legislative period.

We felt the climate crisis firsthand all summer, the green transformation must continue: the EU will push for ambitious global agreements (UN Biodiversity Conference and COP 27). It announced the establishment of the European Hydrogen Bank, which will reinvest 3 billion. EUR for building the hydrogen market. In response to natural disasters, the EU will also double its firefighting capacity.
The EU will continue to support Ukraine: it called Ukraine a nation of heroes and told its citizens that the EU will continue to provide all-round assistance, including financial (it announced EUR 100 million for the renovation of UA schools) and will persist in the policy of sanctions.
Dependence on fossil fuels must be removed, the EU wants to help with energy prices and reform the market: It presented the basic elements of a draft regulation on emergency measures to address high energy prices - in particular measures to reduce overall electricity consumption, a cap on market returns and the distribution of excess profits to the people.
We need to invest in sustainability - but do it sustainably: we need to finance the transition to a digital and green economy - through NGEU/recovery plans, 100 billion have already flowed into the economy. EUR (and another 700 to come).
